County of San Benito Passport Information: First Time Applicants
Minor Children must apply in Person. All children reqardless of age (including newborns and infants) must have their own passport.
First tme passport applicants need to apply in person. This section contains useful information to determine whether or not an in-person visit is required as well as information on preparing documents and obtaining passports quickly.
How to Apply in Person for a Passport. You can apply in person if:
- You are applying for a U.S. passport for the first time.
- Your previous U.S. passport was lost, stolen, or damaged.
- Your previous U.S. passport has expired & was issued more than 15 years ago.
- Your previous passport has expired and it was issued when you were under 16.
- Your name has changed since your passport was issued and you do not have a legal docuent formally changing your name.
For All Minors Under Age 14

Renewal of a U.S. Passport
You can renew by mail if: Your most recent passport is available to submit and it is not damaged; you received the passport within the past 15 years; you were over age 16 when it was issued; you still have teh same name, or can legally document your name change.
